Objectives

  • Re-establishment of suitable habitat conditions for Yellow-bellied Toad, Midwife Toad, Natterjack Toad and Great Crested Newt in 35 project areas in Germany and The Netherlands
  • Compensating the loss of suitable spawning ponds and terrestrial habitats in the project areas
  • Contribution to the restoration of the original distribution area of the Yellow-bellied Toad by reintroduction
  • Improvement of the target species habitats in the project areas
  • Securing and strenthening of 16 Yellow-bellied Toad populations (5 in Lower Saxony, 7 in North Rhine-Westphalia, 4 in Limburg) and restoring 5 populations.
  • Securing and strengthening of 18 Midwife Toad populations (12 in Lower Saxony, 2 in North Rhine-Westphalia, 4 in Limburg)
  • Securing and strengthening of 8 populations of Natterjack Toad (5 in Lower Saxony, 3 in North Rhine-Westphalia)
  • Pronounced increase of the target species populations
  • Implementation, organization and strengthening of local networks among nature conservation and other stakeholders, especially the mining industry
  • Dissemination of the projects' methods and results through organizing international conferences
  • Strengthening the network to other partners and countries (knowledge transfer, dissemination of results)
